Young Africa Works-Kenya Programme

Miss Eastlands Organization has mobilized 800+ youths to date in Kayole, Umoja, Mukuru Kwa Njenga and Mukuru Kwa Reuben to acquire free digital literacy, financial and entrepreneurship training under the programme dubbed Young Africa Works-Kenya implemented by Equity Group Foundation. Equity Group Foundation (EGF) is the social impact investment arm of Equity Bank Group and seeks to transform the lives and livelihoods of lowincome people as well as link them with the market in an effort to support entrepreneurs in scaling up their business and create more jobs for young people.
Through the training various youth groups have been able to access affordable loans to start or expand their businesses.

FunzaPlace Project

FunzaPlace

Miss Eastlands in partnership with PAM NAIL LACQUER, a Nail Bar located in Westlands, and with branches in CBD and Umoja offering Nail Care Services and selling a range of non-toxic Nail Care products, gel and nail polish is now providing free training program coined FunzaPlace-a training and placement project to the young and vulnerable lactating mothers. The program is a 3-months hands-on beautician training for young and at most risk lactating mothers who want to work in the beauty sector with the aim to learn, develop and practice as required by the market. In this program, the emphasis is put on the trainee to acquire the ability to perform as a confident and a competent beautician.
The training is to develop professional attitude and knowledge of hair and skin care, manicure, pedicure, beauty treatments comprising of casual make-up, party make-up, bridal make-up, making of eye brows, eye lashes, facial and skin treatments, hina applications, massage and hair styling techniques and methods. Additionally, the training is to produce a capable and skillful workforce as required by the prevailing market demands and to equip the trainess with skills and knowledge to ensure adherence to safety measures in parlours and emphasize on fitness and diet for a healthy look.
The PAM NAIL POLISH will absorb some of the best performing trainees at the end of the training and to send others to different businesses offering similar services. As Miss Eastlands Organization, we understand the plight of young and vulnerable lactating mothers including poverty and hunger, lack of finance among others. The FunzaPlace project will ensure that our young and vulnerable lactating mothers earn a living by fending for themselves and the family.
